Who we are looking for

This is what you will do

The Financial Accountant at Chiesi Australia is accountable for the oversight of the organisation’s financial transactions and the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports.

 

This role is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to established accounting policies and compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, including Australian tax legislation. 

 

The Financial Accountant will prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to Business Unit Leads, supporting informed strategic decision-making across the organisation.

 

Successful performance in this role requires a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, strong analytical capability, and a sound understanding of Australian tax and regulatory frameworks.

 

This role reports to the Head of Finance and is a 12 month contract opportunity.

 

You will be responsible for


Financial Operations & Compliance

Month End / Year End / GCN Activities
•    Prepare monthly payroll tax, WorkCover journals, depreciation and asset adjustments with GCN teams.
•    Complete monthly GL reconciliations, cash flow reporting and sales recharge invoicing.
•    Perform quarterly and annual intercompany reconciliations and investigate variances.
•    Support annual external audit requirements.
•    Monitor and support GCN KPI performance improvements.
Tax & Statutory Reporting
•    Prepare, lodge and pay BAS, PAYG and payroll tax obligations.
•    Coordinate annual FBT preparation and reporting.
•    Complete annual payroll tax and WorkCover reconciliations and lodgements.
Bank Reconciliations & Accounts Receivable
•    Perform daily bank reconciliations for Australian and New Zealand entities.
•    Manage customer receivables, including ageing reports, collections and payment follow-up.
•    Release customer sales orders and maintain customer master data.
Procurement & SAP Administration
•    Manage vendor creation and maintenance in SAP.
•    Ensure purchase order and SES compliance for invoice processing.
•    Deliver SAP procurement training and user support.
•    Create and approve purchase orders.
•    Provide SAP and Concur system support.

Sustainability Reporting
•    Collect, validate and submit sustainability data via the SDC tool.
•    Prepare quarterly and annual sustainability reports.

Business Reporting & Controlling
•    Upload monthly actual transaction and open PO reports for business review.
•    Assist with OPEX reviews against budget and forecast.
•    Support controlling activities and business performance reporting.

Project Management & Operational Support
•    Manage corporate credit cards, including issuance, maintenance, limit changes and monthly payments.
•    Support employee expense reimbursement and Concur-related enquiries.
•    Assist with finance projects, system implementations and process improvements.

You will need to have

  • CA or CPA qualified, with a minimum of five years post admission experience
  • Technical accounting expertise & strong knowledge of accounting standards
  • Strong knowledge of financial governance principles
  • Strong understanding of profit drivers and levers
  • Solid post qualification experience in a management accountant role within a healthcare industry or a corporate environment
  • Experience in use of finance systems, SAP desirable
  • Experienced in driving continuous improvement and change and process streamlining with a focus on best practice.
