Chiesi Research & Development

Our R&D team represents a fundamental asset for the business. It is divided into integrated functional areas focusing on pipeline projects including discovery and preclinical research, chemical manufacturing and controls, drug delivery technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, intellectual property, quality assurance, R&D project and portfolio management.  Headquartered in the new purpose-built and fully integrated Research and Development Centre in Parma (Italy), the team also has important operations in Paris (France), Chippenham (UK), Cary (US), Stockholm (Sweden) and Toronto (Canada).

 

Who we are looking for

Purpose

As member of the Emerging Sciences & Technology Unit within the Pipeline Innovation Department, the resource  will participate in the overall process of sourcing and implementation of partnering opportunities, from identification to evaluation of external innovation solutions in line with the Global Research and Preclinical Development Area’s  scope to maintain and expand a competitive portfolio of preclinical projects 

Main Responsibilities

The resource will support the global external scouting and evaluation of emerging biologies, drug discovery modalities, technologies and preclinical opportunities, having the following main duties:

•    Surveying and analyzing the scientific and competitive landscapes on emerging biologies and preclinical opportunities in the respiratory therapeutic areas in collaboration with other corporate functions.
•    Surveying and analyzing the scientific and competitive landscapes on emerging technologies and drug discovery models.
•    Maintain an active landscape monitoring and scientific review by providing synthesized data and compelling communication material to relevant internal and external stakeholders and exchanging information with the cross-functional team
•    Support the search for next generation therapeutic approaches by implementing new modalities to identify attractive deal opportunities
•    Participate in the opportunities evaluation process by identifying key questions for due diligence
•    Design and update the opportunities evaluation process roadmap, in collaboration with internal cross-functional team 
•    Identify and build relationships with relevant academic groups and Consortia 
•    Identify appropriate KOL/consultant and academic scientists matching the project’s need and acting as advisors for individual evaluation as well as pipeline maintenance/building 
 

Experience Required

•    Scientific and drug discovery experience, preferably obtained through >5 year experience in multiple functions in the pharmaceutical industry.
•    Scientific excellence in respiratory biology and diseases, and emerging biotherapeutic modalities such as for example nucleic acid- RNA based approachesaand protein therapeutic is a strong plus.

Education

•    PhD degree in Pharmaceutical sciences

English, fluent

Technical Skills

•    The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge of drug discovery and academic reaserch, with a good understanding of all aspects of preclinical development.
•    Scientific expertise in molecular biology, signal transduction.
•    An advocate for change with an active interest in new technologies and disruptive approaches, with a drive and passion to innovate and integrate these into common practice.
