Purpose

In the context of the Scientific Knowledge (SK) Unit, this role combines strong scientific expertise with deep pharmaceutical domain knowledge and strategic acumen to drive strategic decisions and foster innovation. By leveraging comprehensive scientific insights, the role acts as a bridge between science, business and strategy, ensuring the company remains competitive and aligns with global standards.
A key aspect of this role is challenging existing paradigms, promoting innovative approaches and collaboration. The role also focuses on overseeing and executing all scientific knowledge activities related to early research (including new target identification/ validation, MoA exploration, alternative indications, white spaces identification and new modalities/ therapeutic technologies) additionally, sustaining the progression of discovery and early-stage projects within the Chiesi pipeline AIR and CARE. The role collaborates closely with R&D functions, Competitive Intelligence, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, and Franchises to ensure full alignment with the company's strategic objectives and patient needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serving as the Scientific Knowledge point of reference for discovery and early-stage pipeline activities and concerned teams for AIR & CARE, ensuring the application of scientific, pharmaceutical and business expertise to inform, generate knowledge and drive strategic decisions. 
  • Oversee and execute all SK activities to contribute to the identification and assessment of new targets, MoAs, diseases, modalities and therapeutic technologies.  
  • Act as a liaison between scientific and strategic teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Collaborate within SKAI with SPID and Global Library to facilitate and speed-up the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets to generate actionable insights.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in the pharmaceutical field, including participating in major scientific conferences to capture strategic insights.
  • Develop and maintain scientific analyses, reports, and deliverables to support strategic initiatives.
  • Present complex scientific and strategic findings clearly, concisely, and engagingly to various stakeholders

Experience Required

At least 5-7 years’ experience in a pharma/consultancy company, particularly in Scientific/External data and information management and analysis including capability to synthesize information into meaningful insights for varied audiences.

Education

Master's degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, pharmacy or equivalent or other Scientific subjects

Languages

Fluent English

  • Excellent knowledge of drug development process.
