Chiesi Research & Development
Our R&D team represents a fundamental asset for the business. It is divided into integrated functional areas focusing on pipeline projects including discovery and preclinical research, global technical development, drug delivery technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, intellectual property, quality assurance, R&D project and portfolio management. Headquartered in the new purpose-built and fully integrated Research and Development Centre in Parma (Italy), the team also has important operations in Paris (France), Chippenham (UK), Cary (US), Stockholm (Sweden), Toronto (Canada) and Shanghai (China).
Who we are looking for
This is what you will do
· Support the provision to Chiesi Governance Bodies and Senior Management with robust, data-driven insights and long-term projections to enable informed decision-making and maximize business value delivery across the Chiesi pipeline.
· Elaborate reliable analyses and projections on pipeline value, composition, timelines, costs, resource demand, and probability of success.
· Execute the design and management of standardized project cards for internal projects’ evaluation, ensuring consistency with external opportunities evaluation.
· Support cross-functional alignment on key project assumptions and contribute to effective pipeline reviews and R&D strategy definition.
· Coordinate the process of updating project Probability of Technical and Regulatory Success (PTRS) according to internal guidelines.
You will be responsible for
Main responsibilities
Long term planning
· Prepare quantitative projections on pipeline and any other relevant R&D costs and resources, working with GPMs, GPLs and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., PID, TID, etc.)
· Elaborate short- and long-term R&D workload analyses.
· Support decision-making on R&D headcount planning based on workload projections.
· Coordinate with Finance R&D Planning and Control to ensure consistency between costs short and long term projections.
· Support the maintenance & improvement of R&D long term planning processes and tools, building and updating standard values based on internal & external available benchmark and subject matter experts contribution.
· Align with REDEO Process and Integration Sr Lead to ensure consistency between cost, workload and PTRS assessment for internal projects and external opportunities.
· Collaborate with GPMs and R&D Performance Management Head to execute project PTRS update process.
Ensure the integrity and continuous update and maintenance of the Enterprise Project and Portfolio Management system (Planisware) as well as other reporting tools (eg Innovation Dashboard via Enterprise BI)
Additional responsibilities
Pipeline reviews and R&D strategy
· Support qualitative R&D strategy definition and refresh cycles.
· Elaborate robust quantitative projections on R&D pipeline to support Pipeline Reviews and R&D strategy definition and refresh cycles.
· Ensure relevant long term projections to be uploaded to the FP&A system (BOARD).
· Support the set up and update of the appropriate processes & tools to guide projects prioritization, working with Global Strategy and Franchises.
Project cards
· Keep aligned with business needs and manage standardized project cards to evaluate R&D pipeline business cases.
· Support the Head of unit and the R&D Portfolio and Resource Management Sr Director in the design and execution of XRC meetings to align cross-functional teams on key project assumptions.
· Elaborate reliable analyses on the value, composition, and strategic outlook of Chiesi’s pipeline.
You will need to have
- Management Engineering or Business Economics Degree with previous experience in Pharma R&D development or at least Product Innovation / Degree in Scientific Area with MBA or relevant previous experience in similar role
- Business Administration, Economics, New Product Development, Pharmaceutical development processes, Project Management, performance management, ability in informatic systems, Data Analytics, high level mastering of digital transformation opportunities and challenges
- Microsoft Office applications (excellent skills in excel in particular), Enterprise Project & Portfolio Management Systems, ERPs systems, BI tools
- Proven experience in R&D strategy, portfolio management, or business planning within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Strong analytical capabilities and familiarity with forecasting and simulation tools.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on value creation and operational efficiency.
- Ability to operate cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
- Fluency in english
We would prefer for you to have
- Previous experience with PLANISWARE and/or SAP
- Power BI
- Predictive and optimisation models creation, knowledge of specific digital tools and programming languages supporting data science, experience in AI/machine learning field is a plus
