Air and Care Franchise 

Within the three Business Units (Discover more here), Air and Care Franchises are responsible for the development and implementation of the Therapeutic Area Strategies. Each Franchise is organized by stage of development with fully empowered and enhanced teams of: Pipeline Development Team - focused on delivering innovation and programs leadership accountabilities in close collaboration with R&D, Commercial Portfolio Management Team - focused on maximizing the benefit for the patients and the full potential of marketed / close-to-launch assets, including Life Cycle Management strategies. Air and Care Franchises are also supported by the Medical Affairs, Value & Access, and Business Excellence & Customer Experience Global functions.

 

This is What You Will Do

Within the CARE Franchise, the CARE Strategy & Global Pipeline Development department is focused on the strategic development of the franchise by: 1) leading the Franchise strategy process consistently with One Chiesi Strategy; 2) providing early commercial leadership to pipeline projects; 3) assessing and championing new inorganic growth opportunities 4) leading the cross functional pre-launch strategy and plans of new CARE assets. 5) driving and coordinating innovative strategic and operational projects across CARE

 

Reporting to the Head of Global New Product Planning CARE, the Global New Product Planning Lead, CARE brings strong strategic/commercial, scientific and business analytical expertise and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future growth of the CARE Franchise. She/He leads the definition of the the strategic and the commercial plans for internal pipeline candidates, from preclinical through phase 3 start, leveraging  on deep understanding of global pharmaceutical market; (2) drives CARE Franchise expansion through external innovation by leading commercial assessment of external opportunities including in-licensing, collaborations and M&A and (3) works closely with a range of cross-functional stakeholders within and beyond the CARE Franchise to contribute to the development and execution of the CARE strategy.

 

The Global New Product Planning Lead, CARE will work closely with cross-functional teams and senior leaders across the organization including research, preclinical and clinical development, regulatory, commercial, business development and portfolio management. In particular, this role will collaborate with Global Value & Access, Competitive Intelligence/Scientific Knowledge and Global Medical Affairs to deliver robust commercial assessments and strategic recommendations for internal and external candidates.

You will be responsible for

  • As a commercial core member of the Pipeline  Project Teams, provide strategic and commercial inputs to effectively design and execute the development of drug candidates that bring value to the patient and define their early commercial strategy; support the team and effectively contribute to preparation of Target Disease Profiles (TDP), Target Product Profiles (TPP), Project Cards and gate decisions presentations for key internal governance committees (Franchise leadership, Research and Development Committees and Governance/Executive Bodies)
  • Conduct in-depth research on current and future disease epidemiology, market dynamics, patient segmentation, treatment paradigm, patient journey, unmet medical needs and competitive landscape. Partner with Global Value & Access to define value proposition, market access strategies and pricing environment. Lead the definition and delivery of forecasting assumptions and revenues projections, developed in collaborate with the Strategic Insights & Special Projects Lead
  • Gather and analyse data and insights to support commercial assessments. Engage extensively with internal and external experts to evaluate products, pathways and treatment approaches and translate key insights from scientific experts (internal R&D colleagues and external opinion leaders) into clear, actionable strategies to ensure differentiation and market access for assets in development
  • Lead the commercial assessment of external opportunities (Business Development and Transaction Teams) through business case development and due diligence
  • In collaboration with other CARE Franchise stakeholders and external functions, support definition, development, and implementation of the CARE Franchise strategy as part of the annual planning process
  • Drive the commercial assessment of the annual Pipeline Review process, supporting the technical, and financial assessments of relevant assets

 

You will need to have

  • At least 7 years’ experience in biopharmaceutical industry or in Life Science Consultancy with exposure to areas such as New Product Planning, Marketing, Business Development, Business Knowledge & Analytics or similar functions
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in economics, business or related fields OR in scientific disciplines (e.g. medicine, chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology…)
  • Fluent English
  • Good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry value chain, including emerging healthcare trends
  • Proven experience to bring strategic and commercial input and directions across the drug development process from discovery research to commercialization
  • Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities, with expertise in data-driven decision-making
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, develop hypotheses, and guide critical strategic decision
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities, combined with sound planning and decision-making skills
  • Highly driven and result-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively under tight timelines
  • Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment with many cross functional partners
  • Ability to fast-paced, dynamic environment with agility to respond to shifting priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including ability to synthetize complex information and present clear, concise overview of opportunities and risks to Governance and Executive Bodies

We would prefer for you to have

  • PhD or MBA is a strong plus
  • Direct experience in or with US and Asian pharmaceutical markets/environment will be considered a plus

The role is based at the HQ in Parma, Italy with flexible working arrangements that combine presence in the office and remote working.
