Chiesi Corporate Functions

At Chiesi, the Corporate Functions serve as drive and support for the Group’s business operations. Encompassing key areas such as Global Finance, Global Procurement, Global ICT, Global Human Resources, Global Legal, Compliance & IP, and Global Communications & Public Affairs, these functions ensure consistency, efficiency, and operational integrity.

Complementing these functions, the Transformation Office is responsible for ensuring the strategic alignment of the organization. It promotes an integrated, digital, and customer-centric approach, supporting growth, efficiency, and value creation in an increasingly data-driven world. The Transformation Office ensures coherence between vision and execution, acting as a catalyst for change across the entire organization.

The Strategy, Sustainability & Growth Department is also part of the Corporate Functions. It includes areas such as Global Strategy, SV&S and Business Development, Competitive Intelligence, and other key capabilities. It is accountable for defining the ‘One Chiesi’ Strategy and allocating resources to create long-term, sustainable, shared value for the Group and its stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

Purpose

The incumbent will join the Due Diligence team on a temporary contract (maternity leave replacement up to 1 year) with the final aim of supporting Chiesi’s inorganic enrichment of pipeline and portfolio with high value assets. The Due Diligence Lead works within the Global Business & Corporate Development unit and with R&D, Franchises and other key stakeholders to assess new external opportunities in Air & Care - these may span across diseases, development stages and therapeutic modalities. 

 

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation expertise to lead and calibrate pre-Due Diligence (pre-DD) and Due Diligence (DD) activities, as part of the broader inorganic growth process
  • Sets up cross-functional and fit-for-purpose teams to deliver timely and high-quality assessments, by coordinating and constructively challenging them when necessary
  • Key accountabilities relate to developing a technical review package for R&D (in close collaboration with REDEO Leads), IP and GMD and presents and defends the outcome at the appropriate governance meetings. Ensures also continuous connection with non-technical functions (e.g. Marketing, Market Value & Access, CI)
  • In alignment with Deal Leaders, develops pre-DD and DD project plans and owns their implementation. Steers team to achieve stage-appropriate deliverables (incl. TPP, development plan, risk & mitigation mapping, key inflection points, partner assessment..) and provides guidance/prioritization on the key business-critical elements to focus on
  • Safeguards triage of information sources and guarantees overarching understanding of the scientific and strategic relevance of new  external opportunities in the context of a disease’s unmet needs and its present and future standard of care
  • Interacts with professionalism with potential partners (mainly Pharmas and Biotechs) to extract the relevant confidential information (via Q&A, calls, meetings, VDR access..) to inform the assessments
  • Supports the negotiation team in the initial shaping of the deal and collaboration model (M&A, licensing, co-development, partnership etc..) and facilitates the transition from DD to deal signature and post-deal handover to the future project leadership team

Experience Required

  • Experience gained in industry, consulting or academia in either the drug development, business development/investments, strategic marketing, competitive intelligence or medical affairs fields.
  • Extensive understanding of the pharmaceutical drug development process with experience in critically reviewing data and assessing their impact cross-functionally
  • Solid understanding of inorganic growth / investment field is considered a plus
  • Experience in writing and/or reviewing reports and liaising with experts and stakeholders (both internal and external to company) to gather feedback

Education

Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related fields. PhD is considered a plus. 

Languages

Fluent in English (both written and spoken), any additional language is considered a plus

Location

The location is based in the HQ in Parma, with flexible and hybdrid working arrangement.
