Chiesi Research & Development

Our R&D team represents a fundamental asset for the business. It is divided into integrated functional areas focusing on pipeline projects including discovery and preclinical research, chemical manufacturing and controls, drug delivery technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, intellectual property, quality assurance, R&D project and portfolio management.  Headquartered in the new purpose-built and fully integrated Research and Development Centre in Parma (Italy), the team also has important operations in Paris (France), Chippenham (UK), Cary (US), Stockholm (Sweden) and Toronto (Canada).

 

Who we are looking for

Purpose

•    To contribute in providing relevant Chiesi Governance Bodies and Sr Mgnt with reliable data & analyses on Chiesi Pipeline value and composition and long term projections in terms of timelines, costs and resources demand and projects’ probability of success, in order to support a correct decision making process 
•    To track R&D high level performance through the maintenance and update of the R&D Key Performance Indicators process and other relevant tools
•    To provide reliable internal and external benchmark on R&D timelines, expenses and resources to support evaluations on both internal projects and external opportunities 
 

Main Responsibilities

•    Support the maintenance & improvement of R&D long term planning processes and tools
•    Support the process to retrieve and agree projects’ development phases Probability of Success (PoS) 
•    Support the R&D KPI maintenance, calculation and presentation and, if necessary, the adjustment and/or revision of the ones that need to be modified.
•    Ensure the correct collection of internal data to support benchmark analysis, together with providing source of anonymized external benchmark, e.g. CMR, with correct internal data to support evaluations on both internal projects and external opportunities
•    Interfacing with Project Managers, support the provision of data support to all the R&D functions in terms of time, costs and human resources allocated to projects, in collaboration with R&D Planning & Control unit
•    Deliver monthly financial reporting, portfolio milestones tracking and resource workload analysis, in collaboration with R&D Planning & Control unit
•    Maintain R&D Enterprise Project and Portfolio Management system (Planisware) in collaboration with R&D Planning & Control unit
•    Maintain and update Planisware structures and features relevant for the unit

Experience Required

•    To be evaluated on a case by case basis - previous experience in Portfolio Management or Controlling, in BD or New Product Development areas, better if in the Pharmaceutical Industry, will be a plus

Education

Degree in Economics or Business Economics / Management Engineering Degree / Degree in Scientific Area with MBA or relevant previous experience in similar role

Languages

•    Fluent English 

Technical Skills

•    Business Administration, Economics, New Product Development, Pharmaceutical development processes, Project Management, performance management, ability in informatic systems, Data Analytics, high level mastering of digital transformation opportunities and challenges
•    Microsoft Office applications (excellent skills in excel in particular), Enterprise Project & Portfolio Management Systems, ERPs systems (previous experience with PLANISWARE and/or SAP is a plus), BI tools (Power BI is a plus), Internet & e-mails
•    Predictive and optimisation models creation, knowledge of specific digital tools and programming languages supporting data science, experience in AI/machine learning field is a plus
