Who we are looking for

Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Development, the Corporate Development Manager plays a key role in scouting, assessing and delivering projects for inorganic growth opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitors and performs systematic landscaping of inorganic growth opportunities in specific geographies or therapeutics areas in line with corporate and GBUs/Franchises strategy
  • Assembles business cases and leads financial modelling/valuation for all types of Corporate Development opportunities (e.g. M&A, divestments/out-licensing, local/regional deals, etc.)
  • Generates and updates appropriate deal structures and deal terms that align internal and external interest
  • Continuously monitors and tracks M&A trends in the Healthcare industry analyzing transaction multiples and premium
  • Working closely with the Due Diligence and Alliance Management/Integration colleagues, provides project leadership on opportunities assessment ensuring a strong coordination of Chiesi cross-functional teams and external partners from initial assessment all the way through deal closure
  • Throughout the project guarantees a clear information flow, involvement and alignment of all stakeholders and robustness of the final outcome including the recommendations to the executive leadership 
  • Assembles presentations and supports pitches to the senior leadership of the company seeking approval of inorganic growth opportunities according to the internal governance
  • Builds and nurtures solid relationships and cooperation with commercial functions at corporate and region level, and other corporate functions
  • Maintains and solidifies relationships with external partners and/or counterparts throughout the discussions and actively participates to the negotiation phase, including contractual review, in coordination with the Head of Corporate Development
  • Facilitates the handover to the Alliance Management/Integration team pre and post deal

Experience Required

  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in M&A, corporate development or related role. 
  • Experience in a consulting firm (e.g. Big Four), M&A boutique, or in the Healthcare industry is considered a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and in financial modelling (DCF and risk-adjusted DCF)

Education

Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Economics.

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, coupled with the ability to exemplify complex business issues into financial models
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead international cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Resilient and flexible, able to actively learn through experimentations, successes and failures and rebound from setbacks and adversity

Languages

Fluency in English is mandatory, an additional language will be considered a plus
 

Location

The position is based in the HQ in Parma with possibility of smart working several days per week.
