About the role:

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Science Liaison to join our Rare Disease business unit. You will be joining a dynamic, passionate and driven team where you will truly make a difference to patients. As a key member of the Medical Affairs department you will be involved in field-based non-promotional medical and scientific support with a purpose to build and foster strong working relationships with key external experts (Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Researchers, Peak Scientific and Guideline bodies/committees) to generate insights that will guide Chiesi Australia to deliver initiatives that would improve patient health outcomes.

 

 

This role requires a tenacious, ambitious and pro-active person that will thrive working across a diverse portfolio in Rare diseases. A strategic mindset is required whilst collaborating with internal stakeholders is essential. This role is a National role based out of Melbourne.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

 

This is a field-based Medical Affairs role with the aim of providing high quality, accurate and timely scientific support, to HCPs related to the Company’s products and/or associated disease area(s)
•    Maintain relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the therapeutic landscape and the Company’s clinical development program to maintain the role as an internal expert medical resource
•    Support commercial colleagues in formulary applications, answering queries regarding clinical development plans and support ad-hoc projects like audits, guidelines development and medical education seminars
•    Identify and develop professional relationships with KOLs and HCPs; promote collaboration with the health care community, in dedicated therapeutic area(s)
•    Provide KOLs and researchers scientific information in accordance to the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Chiesi Australia SOPs for MSL engagement standards and establish long term relationships working in specific therapeutic fields
•    Conduct scientific pre-launch-activities and provide training to field-force
•    Increase scientific knowledge in the community of products by conducting Advisory Boards
•    Gather competitive intelligence from the field by representing Chiesi Australia at national and international scientific events, symposiums and congresses
•    Report insights generated from HCPs on scientific issues (product related) and the development of relevant therapeutic and disease area(s)
•    Support Market Access colleagues in conducting scientific training to decision makers (ad-hoc)
•    Support local and international Company sponsored trials/studies 
•    Work with KOLs to facilitate requests for Investigator Initiated Trials/Studies (IIT/IIS) in line with Company SOPs
•    Active contribution to Corporate projects

 

 

Experience Required:

 

 

•    A medical degree or an advanced degree in Health Science (Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy) or Life Sciences with post-graduate qualifications (Honours, Masters or PhD).
•    At least 3 years pharmaceutical industry experience; ideally in relevant therapeutic area and in a customer-facing role. Previous MSL experience preferred.
•    Rare Diseases medicine background strongly preferred.
•    Strong understanding of Medical Affairs and experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
•    Completed Medicines Australia Code of Conduct training.
•    Project management skills essential
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
•    Proficient in English verbal and written.
•    Willing to travel domestically with some international travel
