This is what you will do
The Communication and Advocacy Specialist supports the planning and delivery of communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement activities that advance the quality use of medicines, strengthen Chiesi's reputation, and contribute to the delivery of Chiesi Australia strategy.
Working closely with the Head of Market Access & External Affairs and cross-functional teams across its AIR, CARE, and RARE franchise, the role assists in the development of communication materials, stakeholder engagement activities, advocacy initiatives, and internal communications.
The role requires strict compliance with Australian legislation and the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct. The incumbent will contribute to building relationships with key stakeholders, support and execute on communication campaigns, and help ensure consistent, compliant, and effective communications across internal and external digital and non-digital channels.
This is a 9 month fixed term parental leave contract.
You will be responsible for
Communication Delivery
• Support the development and execution of communication plans and activities that promote the quality use of medicines and enhance Chiesi's reputation.
• Develop content and communication materials for internal and external audiences using existing Chiesi Australia channels. Coordinate communication campaigns and related activities.
Patient Advocacy
• Support collaboration activities with patient advocacy organisations alongside Medical Affairs.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of education and awareness initiatives in accordance with industry requirements.
• Contribute to advocacy initiatives that support patient access and healthcare system improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Assist in maintaining relationships with patient organisations, healthcare professionals and industry associations.
• Support engagement activities, meetings, industry forums and consultation processes.
• Coordinate stakeholder communications and follow-up actions.
Internal Communications
• Support internal communication activities that keep employees informed of company initiatives, policy developments and compliance requirements.
• Create and distribute communication materials through established internal channels.
• Assist in promoting employee engagement through effective communication initiatives.
Content and Digital Communications
• Create and coordinate content for internal and external communication channels.
• Support the management of Chiesi Australia's website and social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn
• Monitor communication metrics and prepare reports on campaign performance and audience engagement.
• Provide recommendations to improve communication effectiveness based on available data and insights.
Media and Public Relations
• Assist with media activities, including drafting media materials, press releases and public statements.
• Coordinate responses to media enquiries in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities to support positive awareness of Chiesi and its therapeutic areas.
Issues and Crisis Communications
• Support communication activities relating to product issues, shortages, safety matters or other business-critical situations.
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of communication materials to ensure timely and compliant messaging.
Compliance and Governance
• Ensure all communication and advocacy activities comply with Australian legislation, the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to stakeholder engagements, grants and sponsorship activities.
You will need to have
• Degree qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years' experience in communications, public affairs, advocacy, corporate affairs or a related field.
• Experience developing content across digital and traditional communication channels.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Exposure to the healthcare, pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred.
• Familiarity with digital communication platforms, content management systems and design tools such as Canva and Adobe Express
• Understanding of the Australian healthcare environment and relevant industry codes is advantageous.
