We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, based in our Head Office in Heald Green, Manchester.

The in the role of Financial Accountant, you will support the HFA to run the AF in routine daily operational tasks and also assist in the HFA responsibilities in the month end reporting cycle. The role also includes assisting the HFA by performing required activities across certain areas of external reporting, including Statutory and Regulatory reporting (including for example, Corporation tax, VAT, National Statistics, VPAG, PSA).
The successful candidate will have knowledge of key accounting concepts, the ideal candidate will already be proficient in most areas of Financial Accounting, having either a graduate accounting background or AAT qualified as they are expected to develop knowledge by undertaking professional study. Study support for ACCA/CGMA will be provided by the company.

Purpose
To report directly to the Head of Finance and Accounting (HFA) assisting with activities within the Accounting Function (AF) of the UK Finance department.
This will involve supporting the HFA to run the AF in routine daily operational tasks and also assist in the HFA responsibilities in the month end reporting cycle. The role also includes assisting the HFA by performing required activities across certain areas of external reporting, including Statutory and Regulatory reporting (including for example, Corporation tax, VAT, National Statistics, VPAG, PSA).
In this role you will be expected to closely support the HFA, deputising on occasions of absence and work closely with the Controlling team to ensure a rigid standard of accurate and timely financial information and support is provided by the AF department.
Profile
Reporting to the HFA, the role would suit an ambitious, dynamic individual who is driven and keen to develop. As the role requires proficient knowledge of key accounting concepts, the ideal candidate will already be proficient in most areas of Financial Accounting, having either a graduate accounting background or AAT qualified as they are expected to develop knowledge by undertaking professional study. Study support for ACCA/CGMA will be provided by the company.
The candidate will work with the HFA to enhance the overall financial processes in relation to financial reporting, whilst continuing to maintain adherence to internal and external reporting deadlines.
A high level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must, and some previous experience of SAP would be an advantage. The job holder will have excellent communication skills, be able to plan effectively and adhere to tight deadlines, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and be well organised with a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities
Statutory Accounts
- Preparing the Statutory Accounts of first review by the HFA (Chiesi & Unikeris)
- Preparing the year end audit file for first review by the HFA.
- Collaborating closely with auditors to ensure all information requests are dealt with appropriately.
- Prepare, interim and final audit file.
- Accurate and timely completion of the year end auditor's tax pack.
Monthly Reporting
- Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts to detailed back-up.
- Cash flow reporting in BPC
- Preparation of Trial Balance
- Main point of contact for Controlling team for all queries
- Calculation, processing and creation of sales invoices for R&D, ex-pat and ToV transactions to other Group Entities
- Ensure adequate records are maintained for all accounting transactions.
- Enhancement of all month end processes to fulfil SAP requirements.
Day to Day Operations
- Processing of Bank Payments in SAP
Taxation
- Preparation of Transfer Pricing Documentation (Chiesi & Unikeris)
- Preparation and submission of VAT return including preparing back up documentation and reports to assist in reviews of the VAT returns.
- Quarterly UK VAT return
- Bi-Monthly, Irish VAT return
- Preparation and submission of quarterly and annual VPAG returns including preparing back up documentation and reports to assist in reviews
- Preparation of annual VPAG audit file for external audit.
- Preparation of R&D tax return
- Calculation of Quarterly Payments on Account for Corporation Tax
- Calculation and submission of PSA return
- Tax Gateway submissions
- Preparation of bi-annual PPPR reporting
- Preparation of the back-up work necessary for the year end Corporation tax return, and to assist HFA to ensure timely filing.
- To attend taxation updates and ensure the company is up to date with aspects of direct/indirect tax compliance and procedures.
- Involvement where necessary with tax advisors or key issues
- Ensuring company complies with principles of Transfer Pricing policies
Other Reporting
- Ensure adequate records and compliance maintained for any obligations under National Statistics
Other areas
- Ensure Finance SOP's are fully adhered to, and all payments are processed in line with relevant Medical SOP's
- To provide cover for the HFA in periods of absence.
- To undertake ad hoc projects for the HFA, Head of Financial Controlling and Senior Finance Director as necessary.
- In line with annual objectives, contribute and support the UK Affiliate in its pursuit to become more sustainable, ensuring that you and/or your teams commit to and deliver at least 2 initiatives each year.
