This is what you will do
Provide analytical, reporting and technical support to the Business Intelligence Manager by maintaining, transforming and analysing large datasets to support business functions. Deliver accurate, insightful and timely management information. Identify trends, improve reporting processes and contribute to evidence-based decision making across the organisation.
You will be responsible for
Core Responsibilities
- Act as a BI relationship holder for assigned business areas, building strong and collaborative relationships with Sales, Marketing and other cross functional teams
- Support stakeholder discussions to help define, refine and interpret KPIs aligned to business questions
- Contribute to business review meetings, providing structured insight and clear, actionable recommendations
- Assist in analysing and interpreting trends and patterns in complex datasets to support decision making
- Maintain, update and enhance geographical structures across assigned sales teams, reviewing systems and outputs as needed
- Work with Marketing teams to analyse brand performance, monitor data quality and provide ongoing insight for brand and engagement plans
- Contribute to sales forecasting processes by preparing accurate datasets, supporting modelling, and ensuring alignment with planning cycles
- Provide routine and ad hoc reporting and insights to Senior Management, ensuring outputs are clear, accurate and business ready
- Develop working knowledge of internal CRM systems to support reporting and business queries
- Maintain and develop own technical skills, keeping up to date with BI tools, analytics methods and industry best practice
- Provide support to field force teams in understanding and navigating dashboards and reports
- Undertake additional tasks as reasonably required to support the BI function and the wider organisation
- Continue to support and contribute to sustainability initiatives
Technical Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Power BI semantic models (datasets), reports and dashboards using strong data modelling practices (relationships, star schema, DAX measures)
- Develop and support data ingestion/orchestration using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or SSIS (pipelines/packages, scheduling, monitoring, failure troubleshooting)
- Perform data transformation and shaping using Power Query and SQL; ensure reusable, maintainable logic
- Optimise Power BI performance (model design, measure efficiency, visual best practices)
- Manage refreshment and reliability (scheduled refresh, gateway where needed, incremental refresh where appropriate)
- Implement and maintain security (workspace access, sharing controls, Row-Level Security) in line with compliance requirements
- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and contribute to end-to-end solution design alongside senior developers
- Create and maintain technical documentation (solution notes, data dictionaries, run books) to aid supportability and knowledge transfer
You will need to have
- Educated to degree level, ideally in IT, Mathematics, or a related analytical field
- Proven numerical ability and strong analytical skillset
- Advanced IT skills required, particularly Excel (Power Query, PowerPivot) and PowerPoint
- Strong experience with Power BI (Desktop, Service, Mobile) and data visualisation best practices
- Strong understanding of MS SQL, T-SQL and relational database concepts
- Experience designing data models in Power BI (star schema, relationships, measures, KPI definitions)
- Hands-on experience (or strong working knowledge) of Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or SSIS for ETL/ELT, scheduling, monitoring and troubleshooting
- Strong Power BI skills: Power Query, DAX, modelling, and performance-aware report design
- Knowledge of Power BI governance/security concepts (workspaces, sharing, permissions, RLS)
- Logical, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Highly self-motivated and capable of meeting tight deadlines
- Customer focused with strong commercial awareness
- Knowledge of NHS structure advantageous
- Strong understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice
- Experience in a regulated, compliance driven organisation
