Chiesi Global Rare Diseases
Chiesi Global Rare Diseases is a Chiesi Group’s business unit established in February 2020 and focused on research, development and commercialization of treatments and patient support services for rare and ultra-rare disorders, many of whom have limited or no treatments available.
The unit is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and has an initial focus on research and product development for lysosomal storage diseases, rare hematology and ophthalmology disorders. The unit is also a dedicated partner with global leaders in scientific research, patient advocacy and care.
Purpose
The Global HEOR Senior Manager will develop and execute high-quality strategies to achieve optimal reimbursement and access for Chiesi’s Rare Disease assets. The incumbent will support Global HEOR activities of Chiesi’s Rare Disease Assets. The Global HEOR Senior Manager will be part of the Medical Affairs team and will contribute to the development and generation of value-based evidence in support of the rare disease global medical affairs strategy and cross-functional teams. As a strategic partner, this role will be focused on generating and communicating robust evidence demonstrating the value of Chiesi’ Rare Disease portfolio to internal and external stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of strategic global HEOR activities to support launch preparation for late-stage assets.
- Maintain awareness of scientific developments, new and innovative methodologies, and trends in the evolving healthcare landscape to ensure incorporation into medical strategy and research plans.
- Lead development of HEOR and evidence generation strategy to quantify unmet medical need to demonstrate the value of Chiesi’s Rare Disease assets, in collaboration with medical, market access, commercial and country affiliates.
- Generate HEOR deliverables needed for regulatory interactions, including PRO (patient-reported outcomes) regulatory dossier
- Lead development of value propositions for payers, policymakers, healthcare providers and other stakeholders
- Oversee development of launch ready tools and health economic models to explain the value of assets to stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal asset teams and external experts on the conception, design, specification, and format of health economic models; lead quality assurance and stress testing of economic models, as well as comparisons with other published modeling efforts.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and reports communicating health economic results to various stakeholder, including technical committees.
- Lead the design, implementation and management of HEOR and RWE studies from concept through publication: generate new evidence to measure burden of disease (disease incidence, treatment patters, costing, etc) using real world data and other data sources.
- Execute and manage research projects with external collaborators and vendors to ensure timely completion and quality of deliverables as well as budget and legal compliance.
- Generate peer-reviewed publications to communicate study findings in scientific channels in alignment with the product publication strategy.
The Global HEOR Senior Manager will also be expected to:
- Set the ambition and vision for value-based access to medicines for the Rare Disease portfolio
- Develop effective processes and ways of working to support collaboration with key internal stakeholder groups (e.g. medical, clinical development, commercial, etc.)
- Identify new opportunities for value creation based on an understanding of health care systems and the potential benefit of Chiesi’s Rare Disease medicines
- Support development of innovative approaches to evidence generation that meet payer needs and integrate these with the needs of other customers
- Prepare the value story and cost-effectiveness modeling content to support technical committee recommendation process at asset launch
Education
Graduate degree (e.g. PhD, PharmD)
Experience Required
- 7+ years of experience in HEOR or relevant related fields (i.e. health economics, epidemiology, health services research, or other research-focused public health field) or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated expert understanding of fundamental health services research methods and tools including but not limited to: cost-effectiveness / budgetary impact modeling, patient-reported outcomes measures, real-world evidence studies, epidemiology, statistics
- Experience with HTA organizations such as NICE, CADTH, ICER and other HTA groups is desirable
