Chiesi Research & Development
Our R&D team represents a fundamental asset for the business. It is divided into integrated functional areas focusing on pipeline projects including discovery and preclinical research, global technical development, drug delivery technology, clinical development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, intellectual property, quality assurance, R&D project and portfolio management. Headquartered in the new purpose-built and fully integrated Research and Development Centre in Parma (Italy), the team also has important operations in Paris (France), Chippenham (UK), Cary (US), Stockholm (Sweden), Toronto (Canada) and Shanghai (China).

Purpose of the role:
Improving the lives of patients through innovative clinical research. Effective treatments and improved outcomes rely on integrating patient feedback efficiently and in real time. From research to launch, we need to connect with patients, clinicians, and advocacy groups to accelerate our understanding of patient priorities, creating opportunities to solve unmet needs in new markets and developing activities to match patient values and priorities.
The R&D Patient Engagement & Projects Intern will operate within the R&D Patient Engagement team (PET), most members of which are based in Parma. We are looking for real team players, attracted to working in an international environment, organised, highly detail-oriented, and motivated. Prior knowledge of rare diseases is not required. As part of the team, the intern will support the R&D PET to maintain and increase awareness of Patient Engagement impact throughout the Chiesi AIR, RARE and CARE franchise projects at R&D level and help in promoting the importance of clinical research for patients living with these diseases.
Main Activities
• Support patient engagement internal website implementation (website content development, functionality, search & optimization) with external provider
• Support in developing digital campaigns for clinical study website including design, tracking and optimization.
• Identify and contribute to the implementation of global or regional initiatives for promoting innovation in clinical research that can enhance the study efficiency, data quality, and patient experience.
• Drive the implementation of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) tactics and strategies in the assigned disease area/clinical study.
• Act as the main point of contact between R&D Patient Engagement and internal functions (Clinical Programs, Clinical Operations, Patient Advocacy, Procurement, Communications, Public Affairs, Core Team, Regulatory Affairs, R&D Departments, Legal & Compliance).
• Maintain relationships with patient engagement organizations.
• Stay current with regulatory guidelines and industry trends related to patient engagement and innovation in clinical research.
• Map and update SOPs and KPIs to embed patient engagement in R&D activities.
• Support in budget management and cross-functional teams as appropriate
Education
Master degree in scientific or heathcare discipline or relevant field Business /Life Sciences
Languages
Fluent in English. A study experience abrod will be consider a plus
Technical Skills
• Excellent proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
• Basic knowledge of clinical research operations across multiple study phases (Phase I-IV) and GCP guidelines.
• Basic knowledge of project management
• Comprehensive understanding of drug development process.
• Passion for improving the lives of patients through innovative clinical research.
