This is what you will do
The Lead, Field Medical Excellence will fill a critical operational and strategic gap within the US Medical Affairs team. This role leads standardization, performance optimization, and capability building across the Field Medical function, ensuring field teams are equipped with the tools, processes, and guidance necessary to execute effectively, compliantly, and in alignment with medical objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of field medical operations and drive measurable impact on patient outcomes and business success.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Strategic Field Medical Support: Partner with Field Medical leadership to execute strategic initiatives, support continuous team improvement, and align activities with broader Medical Affairs objectives.
- Training, Onboarding, and Process Optimization: Lead medical systems and process training efforts while continuously refining field-facing processes, tools, and systems to drive efficiency and compliance.
- HCP Identification and Segmentation: Assist in the identification, profiling, and segmentation of healthcare professionals to inform territory planning and optimize field engagement strategies. Includes alignment and coordination with MedComms for digital engagement strategies.
- Performance Measurement and Insights: Develop and manage KPIs, trackers, and dashboards to measure field team impact, identify performance opportunities, and provide actionable insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Field Advocacy: Act as a liaison across internal stakeholders to represent field needs, support aligned execution, and ensure integration of field insights into strategic planning.
You will need to have
- Project and Program Management: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage complex timelines, and coordinate across teams and stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking and Analytical Skills: Proven capability to interpret data, derive insights, and develop strategies that enhance field performance and scientific engagement.
- Systems and Technology Proficiency: Experience with Medical Affairs platforms such as Veeva CRM, Veeva Link, insight capture tools, and analytics dashboards. Comfort with digital systems and tools is essential.
- Training and Capability Development: Experience designing and implementing training programs, onboarding materials, or competency frameworks for field-based teams.
- Collaboration and Influence: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across Medical, Clinical, Compliance, and Commercial functions while advocating for Field Medical needs.
- Compliance Awareness: Deep understanding of industry regulations and internal standards governing Field Medical activities and external stakeholder engagement.
We would prefer for you to have
- Medical Affairs or Field Medical Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in Medical Affairs, with a strong understanding of Field Medical roles, objectives, and compliance boundaries.
- Advanced Degree: PharmD, PhD, MD, or Master’s degree in a life science or healthcare-related field is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated Success in Change Management: Proven ability to drive adoption of new processes, technologies, or organizational initiatives within a field medical or similar environment. Experience leading teams through transformation or capability-building projects is a plus.
- Track Record of Cross-Functional Collaboration: History of effective partnership with Medical, Clinical, Compliance, Commercial, and/or IT teams to deliver integrated solutions and advance strategic objectives.Exposure to Global or Multi-Affiliate Environments: Experience working in or collaborating with global Medical Affairs teams or across multiple affiliates is a plus, reflecting the ability to navigate diverse cultures, regulations, and business practices.
