Internship Program Overview
Our 10-week summer internship program gives students hands-on experience and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while learning about our organization. Interns will connect with leaders, participate in development sessions like self-assessments and business overviews, and take part in networking and community initiatives. The program concludes with a final presentation to leaders and peers, where interns showcase their work, share ideas, and receive valuable feedback.
Who we are looking for
This is what you will do
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented intern to support our business glossary and data governance initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of pharmaceutical operations and an interest in enterprise data management. You will work with cross-functional teams and leverage tools like Collibra, Databricks, and Excel to ensure terminology consistency and data clarity across the organization.
Over the summer, the intern will gain:
- Exposure to enterprise data governance practices in a regulated industry.
- Hands-on experience with industry-leading tools like Collibra and Databricks.
- Opportunity to contribute to foundational data initiatives that support business excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Mentorship and collaboration with experienced professionals in pharmaceutical operations and data management.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Maintain and update the enterprise business glossary using Collibra, ensuring terms are well-defined, approved, and aligned with business standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Regulatory, Clinical, Commercial, and Manufacturing functions to validate glossary entries.
- Assist in mapping glossary terms to data assets and metadata within Databricks and other platforms.
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies, duplicates, and outdated terminology.
- Support the documentation of glossary governance processes and contribute to user guides and training materials.
- Use Excel to track glossary changes, manage term inventories, and generate reports for stakeholders.
- Participate in data governance meetings and contribute to discussions on terminology standardization and metadata management.
You will need to have
- Currently pursuing a degree in Life Sciences, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field with an expected graduation date of Fall 2026 or later.
- Basic experience or coursework in data governance, metadata management, or enterprise data platforms.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
We would prefer for you to have
- Working knowledge of Collibra, Databricks, and Excel preferred.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical business processes and terminology preferred.
Location
This is a hybrid role based in Cary, NC. Interns are expected to work on-site up to 3 days per week.
