Business Systems Analyst

This is what you will do

The Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders and IT, responsible for building strong business partnerships, eliciting and documenting business requirements and processes, translating requirements into functional specifications, and overseeing the successful delivery of projects and application enhancements throughout the system development lifecycle.

This role combines business analysis, project coordination, and stakeholder management responsibilities to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and deliver measurable value. The Business Systems Analyst will proactively engage business partners to identify opportunities for process improvement, prioritize initiatives, and drive continuous optimization of global and local applications.

You’ll be responsible for:

1. Business Analysis

• Analyze current-state ("as-is") and future-state ("to-be") processes, and identify the gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Translate business requirements into clear, complete, and actionable functional specifications and ensure alignment between business and technical teams to make certain they are accurately understood and implemented
• Coordinate and/or facilitate user acceptance testing, documenting and triaging defects, and confirming the delivered solution meets the documented acceptance criteria.
• Distinguish between stated wants and underlying needs, and challenge requirements constructively where a simpler or more standard solution would serve the business better.
• Evaluate solution options — configuration, enhancement, third-party solution, process change — and make recommendations with a supporting rationale.

2. Project & Enhancement Delivery

• Plan and manage small-to-medium projects and enhancement efforts end to end - scope, schedule, resource needs, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Coordinate across internal development teams, infrastructure, QA, vendors, and business resources to keep work moving.
• Monitor and provide clear status reports throughout the execution across the application development lifecycle, tracking progress against plan and flagging risks and issues early with proposed mitigations.
• Manage scope actively — assess the impact of change requests and routes them through the appropriate approval path aligned with the corporate governance model.
• Ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and meet quality expectations.

3. Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary ICT point of contact for assigned business functions, facilitating regular discussions with stakeholders and process owners to understand current pain points, upcoming initiatives, and strategic direction to identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
• Communicate effectively with audiences ranging from end users to senior leadership, adjusting technical depth to the audience.
• Act as an advocate for business needs while ensuring alignment with ICT strategy, governance, and architectural standards.
• Proactively identify opportunities where technology can reduce manual effort, improve data quality, or support growth

4. Demand Management

• Assist in the evaluation of business value, complexity, cost, risk, and strategic alignment of proposed initiatives.
• Assist in prioritizing demand against other projects and enhancements within the ICT portfolio.
• Support annual planning and roadmap development activities.

You will need to have

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience as a business systems analyst, business analyst, or in a comparable role supporting enterprise business applications.
• Demonstrated experience eliciting requirements from non-technical stakeholders and producing functional specifications that development teams can build from.
• Experience supporting application enhancement and projects across a full software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business audiences and business context to technical teams.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, or Commercial systems.

We would prefer for you to have

• Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or another regulated life sciences environment.
• Experience with validated systems and GxP computer system validation
• Familiarity with regulated-industry business processes such as manufacturing, quality, clinical, regulatory, supply chain, or commercial operations.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Veeva, and SalesForce.
• Experience with Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid delivery approaches.
• Proficiency with tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, or Visio
