Purpose

Chiesi Global Rare Diseases division currently has an opening for a newly created role of Operational Excellence Manager, reporting to the Head of commercial and operational Excellence - Rare Disease. 


The Operational Excellence Manager within the Global Rare Disease Business Unit (GRD) will be a key partner of the GRD Functions’ Heads, ensuring high standards and working with common tools ensuring that GRD is aligned with the broader company strategy deploying synergies as well as reduce inefficiencies and improve efficiency and effectiveness on several different areas of the Business Unit. 


This role is based in our office in Boston, MA office, with the flexibility to work from home. Candidates must be available to visit the Boston office weekly.
 

Main Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects using Agile methodologies
    • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders. Including risks, dependencies and potential obstacles as well as mitigation actions
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Identify project stakeholders and establish clear communication channels and expectations.
    • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues or conflicts.
    • Engage regularly with heads of other functions within and outside the Business Unit
  • Risk Management and Mitigation:
    • Identify operational risks, dependencies, and obstacles, and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
    • Proactively monitor project progress and performance metrics, taking corrective action as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Champion Agile principles and practices, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the project team and organization.
    • Conduct retrospectives to reflect on project outcomes, identify lessons learned, and implement process improvements for future projects.
    • Monitor effective implementation of strategic plan priorities and highlight potential roadblocks and delays
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Data sources mapping across different functions and geographies
    • System mapping across different functions and geographies
    • Connection with IT to understand the tools availabilities in house vs need for outsource
    • Gap analysis on available information vs desiderata
    • Plan preparation, deployment, implementation and tracking
    • Estimate ROI of different projects

Experience Required

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Operational Excellence, business operations, analytics and similar
  • Proven strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate innovative ideas into actionable plans 
  • Skilled with data analytics, data tools, and innovative methodologies 
  • Willing to contribute into Process Improvement
  • Project Management capabilities
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as smartsheet, and similar
  • Tech Savvy
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Preferred knowledge of Kaizen and six sigma, six sigma certification not requested but will be considered a plus
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); proven ability to work cross functionally and liaise across a complex set of stakeholders
  • Proven leadership and organizational capabilities
  • Time, Budget and risk management are key abilities needed
  • Pharma market knowledge, especially rare diseases will be considered a plus

Education

BS/MS degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Statistics or other technical, scientific or anyhow quantitivative discipline(s), MBA preferred
