Chiesi Global Rare Diseases

Chiesi Global Rare Diseases is a Chiesi Group’s business unit established in February 2020 and focused on research, development and commercialization of treatments and patient support services for rare and ultra-rare disorders, many of whom have limited or no treatments available.

 

This unit is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with a strong synergy with the headquarters in Parma. 

 

Rare unit has a focus on research and product development for lysosomal storage diseases, rare hematology, ophthalmology disorders and rare immunodeficiencies. The unit is also a dedicated partner with global leaders in scientific research, patient advocacy and care. Discover more here.

Reporting to the VP FP&A, the Senior Finance Business Partner will serve as the strategic finance partner to the Senior Vice President of the Americas Rare Disease BU and as a member of the Americas Leadership Team
This role goes well beyond traditional Commercial FP&A responsibilities. It brings together commercial finance leadership, strategic planning, portfolio management, executive decision support, and organizational transformation. The successful candidate will help shape decisions that impact Chiesi’s current commercial performance and future growth trajectory.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Serve as finance business partner to the Americas Leadership Team across Canada, the US, and Latin America. The Leadership Team includes SVP Americas, VP Market Access, VP Latam, Head of Commercial Canada, Sr Directors for products franchises.
  • Lead Financial Planning & Analysis activities, including annual budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and financial modeling; partner with Strategy on the Long-Range Plan.
  • Lead regular performance discussions with the Americas Leadership Team and VP FP&A, including monthly results, financial analysis, and Business Review preparation.
  • Work with a matrix organization that requires strong collaboration between GRD BU and Local Affiliates  (US, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, local distributors, Corporate teams (Accounting, Procurement, Tax, Product Supply) and Sharing Services to align financial planning with execution and external reporting.
  • Support the BU by enabling market activation, launch readiness, and disciplined investment decisions to capture expected growth opportunities.
  • Provide commercial finance support to translate market dynamics, patient journey insights, and growth drivers into robust financial scenarios and plans for 9 commercially available products (>$1B sales).
  • Provide strong finance leadership to support decision-making, resource allocation, and execution discipline needed to scale the business and achieve sales and profitability goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems, reporting, and planning tools to accelerate scalability, efficiency, automation, and analytics in support of evolving business priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and continue to develop the current Finance organization (3 members) through coaching, succession planning, talent development, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the consolidation of the Global Rare Diseases Business Unit Monthly Sales and P&L, integrating financial performance across Global Functions, Americas, Europe & International and R&D.
  • Deliver executive reporting, strategic financial analyses and performance reviews for the GRD Leadership Team and Corporate Finance.

You will need to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required; Master's/MBA and CPA or CFA preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance leadership within life science. At least 5 years of experience at the Senior Director or equivalent level partnering directly with executive commercial leaders.
  • Deep expertise in commercial finance, forecasting, pricing, market access, reimbursement and gross-to-net (US in particular).
  • Experience supporting product launches and commercialization planning in different geographies.
  • Exposure to licensing, acquisitions or commercial due diligence is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in SAP ERP system implementation a significant plus. Experience with planning system is a must.
  • Ability to lead, influence, build consensus and work optimally in cross functional teams
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively with senior management
  • Occasional travel may be required

We would prefer for you to have

  • Finance and/or Accounting major from University
  • MBA degree or CPA certification preferred

Compensation

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $180,360 to $220,440. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If hired, the employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
