Who we are looking for
Purpose
Reporting to the Head, National and Government Account Team, the National Account Director, Government Accounts (NAD) will execute strategic and tactical initiatives to obtain optimal coverage, reimbursement, and patient access for the Chiesi Global Rare Disease products within National, State, and local government channel within the United States.
The role also requires contract negotiation and execution experience with US payer’s business lines in multiple therapeutic areas along with understanding the evolving changing payer and policy landscape and ability to work effectively within it.
Main Responsibilities
- The National Account Director, Government Accounts contributes to the company success by working within the team matrix and by being one of CHIESI's GRDs lead contacts with assigned Government accounts in United States. The NAD plays a critical role in executing Chiesi Market Access strategy by building strategic relationships, along with securing formulary and/or medical policy access for Chiesi GRD products for patients within his/her assigned accounts.
- Experience working previously with Patient Services teams, Specialty Pharmacy vendors, infusion centers, facility purchasing teams, GPOs, field reimbursement teams, and HUB services is required to ensure that any reimbursement issues are addressed in conjunction with the Market Access Field Reimbursement team, Patient Services, and Chiesi Total Care.
- This role with work with existing National Account Director(s) and Field Reimbursement team to deliver access goals. It will also work closely and in conjunction with sales organization to achieve company results for Chiesi GRD.
- This position may also be responsible for evaluating and negotiating the contracting of select existing and/or future products with US payers and government related entities.
Experience Required
- 10 years related experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry preferably with 7+ years’ experience in Payer facing role(s) with rare/orphan products. Additional experience in sales, marketing, payer marketing or contracting preferred.
- Previous experience of minimum of 5 years working with State Medicaid Pharmacy Directors, Medical Pharmacy Benefit Administrators, and Federal agencies such as CMS, VA, DoD, Tricare, Indian Health.
- Expert knowledge of current US payer environment and dynamics, including payers and their formulary, utilization management, and benefit management strategies including buy/bill and medical.
- Existing relationships with key personnel within government channels.
- Experience working within Rare Disease/Orphan/Specialty products preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of current reimbursement trends and Specialty Pharmacy/HUB services.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and strategic relationship building.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and implement successful strategic initiatives.
- Proven leadership skills and strong business acumen, experience with office and presentation tools.
- Effective executive level negotiation skills
- Well-developed relationship management and consultative sales skills
- Self-directed and confident, with developed ability to build teamwork centered on shared commitment and goals to achieve high standards of performance.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and multifunctional resources concurrently while maintaining high attention to detail while responding to rapidly changing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook) Adobe. Additional experience working with payer formulary access platforms and other data driven interactive dashboards.
Education
BS/BA required. Graduate or Pharmacy degree preferred.
