Purpose

The GRD Strategy and Business Knowledge Associate Director (the “Associate Director”) will play a key role in the business unit strategic evaluations related either to the strategy definition and the inorganic opportunity evaluation, providing a comprehensive analysis by studying multiple scenarios across organic growth, inorganic growth and their dynamic combinations while operating in collaboration with all GRD functions and other corporate functions. 
In alignment with the Global Strategy Team the Associate Director will be a key contributor for the evaluation of long term strategic initiatives, definition of the therapeutic area strategic plan, as well as support for the long term P&L projection of the area portfolio and in evaluation of inorganic opportunities and related NPV preparation. 

This role is based in our office in Boston, MA office, with the flexibility to work from home. Candidates must be available to visit the Boston office on a weekly basis.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic planning: 
•    Support the development and refinement of GRD strategic plan. 
•    Assist in analyzing internal and external factors influencing GRD strategic direction. 
•    Collaborate with team members to align strategies with organizational goals. 
•    Constantly ensure alignment with other franchises and the whole company strategic exercises. 
•    Support in the Business Unit plan consolidation across  GRD three  Strategic Areas. 
•    Contribute to providing data-driven recommendations for strategic initiatives, including inorganic opportunities. 
•    Collaborate with finance teams to ensure alignment between strategic plans and financial goals. 
•    Run multiple scenarios for GRD strategic plan 
Inorganic opportunities evaluation: 
•    Contribute to identifying emerging opportunities and threats related to inorganic growth. 
•    Support the evaluation of potential partnerships, acquisitions, licensing or other strategic collaborations. 
•    Assess the financial viability and strategic fit of potential opportunities by preparing Net Present Value model for each inorganic opportunity and strategic initiative. 
•    Conduct scenario analyses and sensitivity testing to evaluate various business outcomes.  
•    Collaborate with the Strategic Area teams in order to gain information crucial for the opportunities evaluation, including identification and quantification of potential synergies.
•    Coordinate the commercial due diligence team for the inorganic opportunities evaluation and synergize the assessment of other departments within GRD into one, cohesive assessment of opportunities
•    Perform high-level preliminary assessment of white spaces by working directly with Head of GRD
Other responsibilities: 
•    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, operations, value & access, business development, R&D and other functions.  
•    Foster collaboration and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders. 
•    Support in preparing reports and presentations for executive leadership. 
•    Communicate findings and insights in a clear and concise manner to relevant stakeholders  
•    Build relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders. 

Experience Required

•    A minimum of 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry 
•    The ability to travel 25 to 35% of the time 
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
•    Superior demonstrated quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills 
•    Demonstrated proficiency in financial modelling
•    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
•    A knowledge of foreign languages and cultures is desirable 
•    Possess a positive, energetic, and a can do attitude  
•    Experience at a consulting firm, investment banking, private equity, venture capital or investment company is a plus

Education

•    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Accounting, or similar quantitative field ; MBA strongly preferred
